WordPress is by far, the most famous content management system (CMS). Used by well-known companies like Microsoft to share their stories and news, WordPress CMS is widely utilised by several other web designers worldwide. WordPress has multiple uses; It can go free, it can be paid or subscribed, and it can be manipulated and customized in almost any way you can imagine.
Besides being the most widely-used CMS, it is also the fastest growing. According to Kinsta, out of the top 10 million websites online, more than 500 sites built each day are powered by WordPress.
Yeah, that is unbelievable. Over 60 million people worldwide choose WordPress.com to create their websites.
WordPress 5.4, just that version alone has been downloaded more than 24,900,717 times. And it is growing every second. You can see the current download count here inshaAllah.
WordPress is divided into two broad categories:WordPress.com and WordPress.org.
WordPress.com and WordPress.org work in completely different ways. They have their pros and cons as well.
In WordPress.com you can go from free to extremely expensive. While with WordPress.org you can handle everything under your control for almost around $10 USD per month.
WordPress.com is a hosting service where you create your blog or website for free with very limited features. In the end you will keep paying for unlocking more features.
WordPress.org is opensource and self-hosted. That means you have the source code and you can modify it as you wish. You can add any plugins or themes without any limitations.
Both comes with free and premium themes and plugins. However, self-hosted sites give more flexibility and ability to build your website from scratch.
With all that in place, still, WordPress is the best, fastest and easiest way to start a blog or website.
