Since iOS 11, iPhones’ default photo format is HEIC. HEIC is being used to compress photos and preserve photo quality. Although this format offers better compression, it’s not compatible or supported by most devices and apps out there.
JPEG files have a longer history than HEICs and are generally more compatible across operating systems, software, and devices. It’s a straightforward process to open and edit JPEGs almost anywhere.
Here’s how to change the iPhone default format from HEIC to JPEG.
Open settings.
Search for Camera and select it.
Go to Formats.
Select Most Compatible.
That’s it.
