6 tips for students

For some students university life is an opportunity to enjoy and have fun while for others it is a serious foundation towards their future.

Well, here’s my advice for you to make the most out of your university life.

Keep a record

Your life as a student at university will be made up of numerous conversations or communication and interactions. My first advice is, keep a record of every conversation between you and the university. Save it in a cloud drive, which can be reached from anywhere, especially via your phone.

There is a lot of information you need related to both your academic studies and other administrative services. It is always best to make your requests or inquiries via the online helpdesk or your email rather than word of mouth. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t discuss it in person. It’s a good idea to discuss in person before you email or request via helpdesk. Right after the discussion, let the staff or lecturer know that you will be emailing about it as a reminder.

That way, you will have proof when you need it.

Be professional

Keep a professional relationship with your lecturer. As a university, there are different lecturers with different personalities. You should understand that lecturers may be different in their communication styles, for example, some lecturers have strict office hours and protocols for requesting meetings whereas some lecturers may be more flexible with their appointment times. However, reach out to the lecturer and make sure you clear all your doubts right away. Remember to be professional in your communication.

Procrastination

University life means a lot of work, you have lectures, tutorials, assignments, and also other social activities. This means you need to be super organized and manage your time well. Procrastinating tasks and assignments will lead to great stress as well as a loss of lots of marks. Rather, try to make schedules to keep things on track and finish beforehand.

Study Environment

Studies show that a fixed study environment will help students focus as things around will not distract them. If you keep on changing the study area, you will have new things around and it will distract you from concentrating on your studies.

Some students have great study areas in their homes. Those who don’t can try a library or Masjid is also a good place to study.

Wake up early

Sleep well, Wake up early for fajr as it is the most productive and blessed time of the day. Start your study after early morning prayer and the supplications.

Focus

Focus more on your takeaway. Focus on the knowledge that will benefit your future rather than friends and classmates.

Mostly, your classmates and university friends will be around only for a year or two. But the ones with a future idea might remain. so, look for a friend who has a similar interest to plan a future business or work.

What will remain with you is the knowledge and a pal with similar perspectives. The fun and the hangouts will mostly remain as a waste of time, a time that you will never get again.

So, make sure you surround yourself with good. Good knowledge and good friends for a bright future, inshaAllah.

All the best
